Book Week – A Visit From Oliver Phommavanh
It’s Book Week! A wonderful week to explore everything related to reading, writing and everything else bookish.
To kick off Book Week, 5DF had a visit from super popular author, Oliver Phommavanh.
Year 5 have been enjoying Oliver’s books in Book Chat, with favourites being:
- ConNerd
- Thai-riffic!
- The Other Christy
- Don’t Follow Vee (brand new book!)

Oliver taught 5DF many awesome tricks to write funny stories and students completed lots of fun activities designed to fire up the creative juices.

What is one thing you learnt from Oliver about writing?
Hello 5DF
Good Morning 5DF
I MISS YOU !
I hope that you are working hard and learning LOTS
I know that you will be creating an amazing diorama – designing your buildings and scenes from the 1850’s
Looking forward to seeing each of the tiles that form together to make the diorama.
Have a great 20 days – remember to follow our E.A.R acronym and you will have a wonderful time.
I will try and drop in to see you before I leave on my holiday
Have a great day
SMILE and enjoy
Misty
Sovereign Hill Adventure!
Year 5 Team had an amazing experience at Sovereign Hill this past week
We explored life in the 1850’s on the Victorian Goldfields- including going to school for 2 days just like an 1850’s child!
We gained an insight into the life that a child would experience and how differently boys and girls were treated.
Year 5 Market Success
What an amazing day we had on Tuesday 11th June
The Market was a HUGE success
We raised over $6,000.00 for the JMB foundation.
